The Finest Cashmere
If you are used to buying and wearing authentic Ballantyne cashmere you will recognise our range of knitwear which is designed to our exacting standards and originally sold with our ‘Ballantyne for Berk’ label prior to the demise of Ballantyne in 2014 when the factory in Scotland was closed.
Many of the men and women who made Ballantyne now work for us making Berk bare finish cashmere to the same standard and specification of Ballantyne. Real cashmere is an art. We use forty-eight hand processes from knitting to finishing to make Berk cashmere. We knit each garment under tension typically using thirty per cent more cashmere yarn to reduce pilling. The process of 'fully fashioning' means that each garment is knitted to shape not cut to shape. Every garment is hand-linked, cupped and seamed; a time consuming process which guarantees the shape of the garment over time.
Finally the garments are washed in pH neutral water to produce a bare finish®. The result is tightly knitted cashmere knitwear with a lustrous touch which is beyond compare, made in Scotland.
